Meela talks to members over the phone they already use—cell phone or landline, whichever they prefer. She’s powered by technology that’s been thoughtfully designed for older adults, but she sounds surprisingly natural and is very easy to talk to. Most people say it feels like having a real conversation. Meela is also a great educational and practical resource. She knows about a wide range of topics—like history, music, and more—and can help answer all sorts of everyday questions, like having a brilliant friend who knows everything. There’s no new technology to learn. Meela simply calls the member’s regular phone—no apps, no screens, no setup on their end. Members are always in control. They can end the call at any time, skip a day, or stop using Meela whenever they’d like. If a member is unsure, you can show them a short introductory video available on the onboarding website to help them understand how Meela works.
It’s completely normal for members to decline at first — about half are initially not interested. You can share this to reassure them that hesitation is common. Always respect their decision, but consider encouraging them to try just one conversation. Many of the members who were unsure at first end up enjoying Meela the most once they experience how natural, easy, and supportive the conversation can be.

You can talk to Meela as often as you like. You can schedule up to 7 calls per week—one each day. But you’re also free to call her directly anytime, as often as you want, and talk for as long as you’d like. Luckily, she never gets bored of talking!
